The GFG in Africa programme supports four regional networks in their efforts to reduce Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs):
- The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), in the area of tax policy and administration
- The African Organisation for Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI), in the area of external financial control and auditing
- The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), in the area of budget planning and implementation
- The African Organisation for Public Accounts Committees (AFROPAC), in the area of legislative oversight
From 24 – 26 May 2017, 250 delegates from 42 countries attended an international conference on the theme “Tackling Illicit Financial Flows: An African approach to a global phenomenon” in Yaoundé, Cameroon.” The conference was hosted by AFROSAI, and organised in partnership with AFROPAC, ATAF, and CABRI with support from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation.
The aim of this conference was not only to enable all the participants to develop a common understanding of IFFs but also to become aware of actions undertaken by other actors in the fight against the illegal outflow of money.
This short video provides an overview of the conference as well as insights from the network heads.
